Nicole Campbell
At PeopleDem property we believe in celebrating our community by spotlighting black excellence in property. Today we are celebrating Nicole Campbell.
Nicole is a Committee Member for Black Women in Real Estate (BWRE) and a Senior Asset Manager at The Crown Estate, responsible for maximizing asset value and performance. She ensures her strategies align with The Crown Estate’s purpose "to create lasting and shared prosperity for the nation" as well as her own mission of making places accessible to all.
With two decades of experience, Nicole’s career spans Asset Management at The Crown Estate and Retail Leasing and Lease Advisory at CBRE, where she advised a variety of clients. A key achievement was her involvement in the £168 million transformation of Fosse Park, delivering 140,000 sq. ft. of new retail and restaurant space in 2021.
Nicole sees property as a people-focused industry that shapes the future, making diversity essential. While progress has been made, she believes more must be done to ensure the industry reflects the country it serves. Passionate about equity and inclusion, she supports apprenticeships, work experience, and university outreach at The Crown Estate to attract future talent.
Raised in Wolverhampton, Nicole attended Codsall High School before studying at the The University of Manchester. One of only three Black students in her year, she found it a stark contrast to her diverse primary school, shaping her resilience.
Initially unaware of careers in property, Nicole worked at Sainsbury’s and interned in their buying team. She loved negotiation and retail and later discovered Target Property magazine, realizing she could combine her interests in geography and architecture. After applying for a CBRE graduate surveyor role, she was initially rejected due to a lack of experience but secured work experience and a place on the graduate scheme in 2005. After 10 years at CBRE, she joined The Crown Estate in 2015.
Nicole is proud of her work with local partners and occupiers to ensure Fosse Park serves its community. She helped develop Fosse Recruit, connecting retailers with local job seekers, and the Fosse Foxes Art Trail, a visitor attraction co-created with schools and community groups.
As a BWRE Committee Member, Nicole fosters opportunities for Black Women to grow and sustain fulfilling careers in the Real Estate Industry. The organisation does this by raising awareness of the plethora of careers open to them.
Nicole believes the industry is becoming more inclusive but looks forward to even greater diversity. Her message is clear: there is space for everyone in property. She encourages those interested to seek work experience and connect with professionals.
A trailblazer, Nicole proves that young Black girls in Wolverhampton and beyond can achieve great things in property. Her journey is inspiring, and we look forward to seeing what’s next.
