Anthony Lindsay
At PeopleDem Property, we believe in celebrating our community by spotlighting Black excellence in property. Today, we are celebrating Anthony Lindsay.
Anthony is a mortgage broker, keynote speaker, author, and founder of Astor Business Centers. He has had an extraordinary life, excelling in multiple areas, and it is clear he has a passion for helping others. This is evident in the multiple books he has written about finance and entrepreneurship, as well as his work with Astor Business Centers. His incredible career spans more than 30 years in finance, including roles in collections, wealth management, lending, and serving as a senior leader for CitiBank. In his earlier years, he also worked in the music industry, where he impressively secured a record deal at age 19 an achievement he remains proud of to this day.
Anthony’s story begins with his grandparents moving from Jamaica to the United States. He grew up in the Bronx and has always been focused on self-development, a trait he attributes to his upbringing in a strong West Indian household. He remembers the saying, “every mikkle mek a mukkle,” meaning everything adds up something that helped shape his entrepreneurial spirit. This later led him to start Astor Business Center, where he helps startups and side hustlers make their first £100k.
His journey into property began when he decided to make a major change in his life. Anthony had worked in collections and foreclosures for over a decade, but eventually realised that this path wasn’t true to who he was. He wanted to help more people get homes and keep them. What led him to become a mortgage broker.
He hasn’t done this alone. When we asked Anthony how he managed to get where he is today, he told us, “Yes, too many people to mention.” It’s clear he understands that reaching the top requires support. With all the help he has received over the years, we asked Anthony to share some insights of his own. He recommended Reframe Your Brain by Scott Adams and anything by Thomas Sowell.
Despite all his accolades and achievements, Anthony continues to strive for more, both personally and professionally. He aims to write more books, speak at more events, and help more people. It’s clear that his mission is to continue uplifting others. When we asked him what he is looking for, he answered, “I am always looking for first-time buyers who have convinced themselves that they can't get a mortgage. I can help.” Alongside his dedication to his work, family is also very important to him, and he is striving to spend more time with them.
It has been a pleasure writing about Anthony. He has had an incredible career that has inspired many. It’s also great to see his continued dedication to helping others through his books, businesses, and public speaking. We look forward to seeing what he achieves in the future.
