Gavin Wilkes
This October, in honour of Black History Month, we’re celebrating 31 Black professionals in property. Today we’re celebrating Gavin Wilkes.
Gavin is the founder and Managing Director of Dynamic Build Group, where technology, manufacturing, and construction intersect to deliver sustainable homes and spaces for the public and private sectors. Dynamic Build Group specialises in Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), accelerating project delivery from single “zero energy bills” dwellings for self-builders to 70 modular apartments for Mears Group.
Gavin also collaborates with private investors to transform under-utilised properties into quality, energy-efficient homes, primarily for families and individuals in need of social housing. Growing up in Sandwell during a time of major regeneration, he was drawn to the construction work happening around him. Witnessing the transformation of spaces sparked his passion for making a positive impact on communities.
Starting his construction career in 2003, Gavin rapidly progressed from junior to senior management roles at leading MMC companies, working with innovative building systems such as volumetric modular, structural insulated panels (SIPs), and timber frame. His journey has been supported by many mentors and partners who provided invaluable guidance and encouragement, particularly in his early years.
Gavin is committed to helping the next generation of construction professionals by sharing his experiences in the design, manufacture, construction, and delivery of MMC projects. He guest lectures at respected institutions like the University of Wolverhampton, passing on his unique knowledge.
In 2025, Gavin plans to secure land and develop safe, healthy, zero energy bills social housing to transform more lives and contribute to a sustainable future. This vision aligns with his belief that “construction should do more than build… construction needs to enhance lives and communities.”
