Omari Saunders
At PeopleDem property we believe in celebrating our community by spotlighting black excellence in property. Today we are celebrating Omari Saunders.
Omari is the award-winning founder of PeopleDem Property and a self-proclaimed enthusiast of property, coffee, and boxing. His current focus is firmly on growing PeopleDem Property expanding the newsletter, hosting larger events, and creating meaningful connections that help people improve their businesses. Alongside this, he invests in REITs through Hargreaves Lansdown, a practice he has maintained since university.
When asked what motivates him, Omari points to having a clear vision of where he is going. He feels drawn toward the future he sees for PeopleDem Property: an evolution into international property development and large-scale events.
“That vision inspires me to work every day to keep going even when I’m tired or things don’t go my way. My passion and dedication come from a deep admiration for my community and what we can achieve together.”
Above all, Omari loves people listening to their stories and uncovering insights from their lived experiences.
His journey began in 2024, when years of personal growth and observation led him to launch PeopleDem Property through a series of networking events. His passion for property was sparked in childhood, watching programmes such as Grand Designs, A Place in the Sun, and Location, Location, Location. This early interest deepened when he learned about his grandmother’s residential property investments in both the UK and Jamaica, drawing inspiration from her decades of experience and wisdom.
After more than five years studying business, networking extensively, and building a strong foundation in land acquisition, finance, and economic cycles, Omari identified a gap in the property networking space. He explains:
“I was attending property networking events across Birmingham, Sheffield, London, and York, and I didn’t see many people who looked like me. I decided to be the change I wanted to see. I created a community where we could support one another, do business together, and share in mutual success within the property world.”
Through PeopleDem Property, Omari now runs regular networking events, has begun actively sourcing land for the organisation’s first development, and is researching private equity opportunities to fund community projects. This work led to him winning the Phoenix Business Club’s Young Entrepreneur of the Year award.
Omari is quick to acknowledge that he hasn’t achieved this alone. He is deeply grateful for the encouragement he’s received kind messages that push him to do more, people sharing events, and others generously offering their knowledge and contacts. One person he explicitly credits is his older brother. “None of what I’ve achieved with PeopleDem would have been possible without my brother. He helped at events and supported me with writing. As I’m dyslexic, proofreading articles and advert copy was very difficult for me early on, and he was a massive help. Now I use AI to proofread and fix spelling, but he’s still a great sounding board.”
When asked about his superpower, Omari points to his curiosity. It has driven him to ask questions, enter spaces others thought were inaccessible, and take chances many didn’t believe were possible. This curiosity has led him to explore diverse subjects, including corporate turnarounds, legal decision-making, storytelling, fantasy writing, and psychology.
Looking ahead, Omari has ambitious plans. He wants to host a large-scale event in his hometown of Birmingham, featuring multiple speakers and thousands of attendees. The goal is not only to showcase the city, but also to bring together some of the most influential Black property professionals and entrepreneurs fund managers, developers, law firm partners, commercial portfolio managers, and government figures. He envisions an event that reshapes narratives and creates international partnerships across the African diaspora. Currently in the early planning stages, Omari is confident it will happen. “With the support of my community,” he says, “I just need to move aggressively but patiently.”
In ten years, Omari sees himself living between Ghana and the UK developing homes in Ghana while owning cash-flowing commercial properties in the UK. He sees immense opportunity on the African continent and, through his research, has been drawn to Ghana for its safety, ease of immigration, rich culture, and exceptional food. At the same time, the UK offers strong access to financing, which he plans to use to fund his ambitions abroad.
Despite his young age, Omari has achieved a great deal. One accomplishment he is particularly proud of is completing the Birmingham Half Marathon in 2024. “I hate running,” he admits, “but the achievement wasn’t about the race it was about the training. Running in freezing temperatures, struggling through five-mile sessions, and repeating that for months tested me mentally and physically. On race day, crossing the finish line was an unbelievable feeling.”
Omari wishes more people understood how hard he works. “I’m not great with technology, and I don’t have a team. Everything you see from PeopleDem is me the posts, articles, website, event organisation, landowner outreach, and sponsor meetings. I’m slowly getting more help, and as of 2026 PeopleDem is my sole focus. That allows me to spend more time improving the business and working on it, not just in it.”
When asked what he is currently seeking, Omari is clear: equity investors. With a professional team now in place to execute a property development, the missing piece is capital. One of his key goals this year is to acquire a plot of land something only possible with the right financial backing.
Omari’s future is bright. With global ambitions and a deep commitment to community, he is still at the very beginning of his journey. What remains constant is his dedication to celebrating others, building opportunity, and creating lasting impact for those around him.
